Berhampur, Sept 15: Odisha got two new Vande Bharat trains on Sunday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagging off six Vande Bharat trains at Tatanagar, during his visit to Jharkhand.
The two Odisha-specific trains will connect Berhampur with Tatanagar and Rourkela with Howrah.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi joined the inauguration ceremony at Berhampur Railway Station as Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off six new Vande Bharat trains on virtual mode from Tatanagar.
“The two new Vande Bharat trains will be the lifeline of South Odisha and North Odisha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a special focus on the development of Odisha. The Centre has made a provision of Rs 20,000 crore for the development of railway connectivity in Odisha ”, said CM Majhi.
According to East Coast Railway (ECoR), Berhampur-Tatanagar Vande Bharat will have stoppages at Banspani, Keonjhar, Harichandanpur, Jakhapura, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Khurda Road and Balugaon in Odisha.
The Rourkela-Howrah Vande Bharat will have only three stoppages between the originating and destination stations and pass through Chakradharpur, Tatanagar and Kharagpur.
Similarly, Raipur-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat will have seven stations between the originating and destination stations and pass through Khariar Road, Kantabanji, Titilagarh, Kesinga and Rayagada stations in Odisha.
