Odisha: Ganja smuggling racket busted in Ganjam, six including five women arrested

Berhampur, Aug 1: Police in Odisha's Ganjam district busted a ganja smuggling racket that involved women and arrested six individuals, including five women and one man, last night.
The cops have also seized approximately 63 kilograms of ganja from their possession.
Acting on a tip-off on a drug-peddling network that was using women as 'safe carriers' to avoid detection by security personnel, Kotinada police tracked the gang and nabbed them from a passenger bus heading from Aska to Kodala while transporting the illicit substance near College Chhak.
Official sources revealed that all the accused are from Kandhamal district, although their identities have not been disclosed yet.
The investigation is ongoing to determine the operations and scale of the racket, they added.
