Bargarh, Apr 8: Ahead of the Lok Sabha and Odisha Assembly polls, former Bargarh MP Prabhas Kumar Singh today resigned from the primary membership of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
He tendered his resignation to party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Sources said Singh was upset with the conch party’s decision to field Parineeta Mishra from Bargarh Lok Sabha seat as he was aspiring to contest the upcoming polls from the segment.
Notably, Singh had successfully contested the 2014 polls from Bargarh Lok Sabha seat as a BJD candidate. In 2019 polls, BJD had fielded Prasanna Acharya, however he lost to BJP’s Suresh Pujari.
On the other hand, senior leader and Odisha BJP vice-president Lekhashree Samantsinghar resigned from party on April 7 and joined BJD.
