Odisha: Food security beneficiaries to get Rs 1000

Bhubaneswar, Feb 12: The Odisha Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved 27 proposals. 

As per the decision, the state government would provide Rs 1,000 and two jute bags to each of the beneficiary household under national and state food security schemes. 

A total of Rs 959.5 crore will be spent for the purpose. Total 95.90 lakh families would receive the assistance, said Food Supply Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak.

The cabinet also also has approved construction of a Rs 105.7 crore High Level Bridge over Mahanadi River connecting Baunsuni, Boudh and Biramaharajpur, Subarnapur. 

The bridge, planned to be completed in 36 months will provide direct connectivity to people residing on both sides of river and create economic opportunity in the region.

To further strengthen the power transmission infrastructure, the cabinet has approved Rs 538.57 crore for setting up 8 new Extra High Tension Grid Sub Stations. The construction of the sub stations with associated transmission lines will be carried out by OPTCL over a period of 3 years.

Cabinet has approved creation of transmission infrastructure to facilitate evacuation from renewable power generating stations. The infrastructure will be developed by OPTCL through Green Energy Evacuation Transmission Corridor under Chief Minister’s Power Development Programme, to be implemented within 5 years from 2023-24. 

Out of Rs 1,345 crore investment, Rs 641 crore equity support to be provided by Odisha government.
