Bhubaneswar, May 15: The Odisha Government has reiterated its commitment to enhancing the standardization and quality of products and services across the state.
A high-level meeting was convened in Bhubaneswar between the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and the Department of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, Government of Odisha, to discuss the implementation of Indian Standards and the creation of a robust quality ecosystem.
This was the second State-Level Meeting on Standardization, aimed at strengthening collaboration between BIS and the state government in promoting quality benchmarks in goods and services.
Chief Secretary Shri Manoj Ahuja, IAS, chaired the session and stressed the importance of raising awareness about standards not only among government officials but also the general public. He highlighted that a culture of quality and compliance is essential for consumer welfare and industrial growth.
The meeting was also attended by senior officials, including Shri Hemant Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary (Industries and MSME), and Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary (Works, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, Information and Public Relations). Representatives from BIS, various state departments, and industry associations also participated in the deliberations.
The discussions focused on practical steps to integrate Indian Standards in state policies, encourage industry compliance, and boost public trust through reliable quality assurance mechanisms.
