Odisha: Five-yr-old boy drowns in open water tank in Rourkela

Rourkela, May 29: In an unfortunate incident, a five year-old boy died after drowning in an open water tank of a house in Rourkela of Odisha's Sundargarh district today. 

The deceased minor boy has been identified as Serun Badaik, son of Rohit Badaik, a resident of Chhend Bidyut Colony in the Steel City. 

According to reports, Rohit along with his family had moved into their new home last week. Serun was playing in the residential area when he accidentally slipped and fell into an open water tank nearby. 

When he did not retune home, his parents began searching him desperately. After a short while, a local resident discovered Serun's body floating in the tank and immediately raised the alarm. They also alerted the police and informed his parents.

Upon getting the information, police arrived at the scene and fished out the body. Subsequently, it was sent for postmortem.

The police have registered a case of unnatural death, and the exact cause of death will be determined after the autopsy.
