Bhubaneswar, Oct 8: The Odisha Vigilance officials on Tuesday arrested Jitendra Kumar Padhy, an Executive Engineer of Tel Irrigation Division in Subarnapur district on charges of demanding and accepting bribe.
The Vigilance had apprehended Jitendra Kumar Padhy yesterday for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 46,000.
The Executive Engineer was apprehended for taking a bribe of Rs 46,000 from a contractor (complainant) for clearing his pending bills, said the Vigilance.
The Sambalpur Vigilance has initiated a probe registering a case and arrested him today.
Notably, Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday conducted simultaneous searches at eight locations linked to Ramesh Chandra Jena, the Senior Private Secretary of the Panchayat Raj and Drinking Water Department of Odisha government acting on allegations of amassing huge disproportionate assets.
Acting on a tip-off, raids are being conducted by eight DSPs, three inspectors, 10 ASIs, and other staffs on warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance in Bhubaneswar.
