Bhubaneswar, Sep 14: The Odisha Economic Offences Wing (EOW) will question Bollywood actor Govinda in Rs1, 000 crore Ponzi scam case.
A team will be sent to Mumbai to quiz the actor, who had attended the STA’s grand function in Goa in July and promoted the company in some video, said sources.
“Govinda is neither a suspect nor an accused. However, the exact role of the actor will be confirmed after investigation, said EOW DSP Sasmita Sahu on Thursday.
The company collected Rs 30 crore from 10,000 people in Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Balasore, Mayurbhanj and Bhubaneswar. They also took lakhs of money in deposits from investors in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Jharkhand and other states.
The EOW had earlier arrested Gurtej Singh Sidhu, the India head of STA crypto tokens from Srinagar, Rajasthan. Bhubaneswar-based investment adviser Ratnakar Palai was arrested on August 16 for his link with Sidhu. Lookout circulars were issued against the company chief David Gez, a Hungarian national.
