Bhubaneswar, May 13: In the ongoing first phase of Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in Odisha, voter turnout of 39.03 percent was recorded till 1 pm.
As per official data, Kalahandi Lok Sabha constituency recorded highest voter turnout at 42.67 percent and Nabarangpur secured second position with 42.65 percent polling.
Similarly, Berhampur and Koraput parliamentary constituency registered 34.97 percent and 36.64 percent polling respectively.
Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nikunja Bihari Dhal informed that voting is being carried out smoothly and advised people not to believe fake news being circulated on social media.
Meanwhile, two polling officials, deployed at polling booths in Kalahandi and Berhampur, were suspended due to dereliction of duty during the simultaneous polls.
Notably, the Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in Odisha will be held simultaneously in four phases -- May 13, 20, 25, and June 1. The counting of votes will be done on June 4.
