Bhubaneswar, Apr 21: After being denied ticket to contest the upcoming Odisha Assembly polls, former Indian hockey team captain Prabodh Tirkey resigned from the Congress.
He tendered his resignation letter to Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Sarat Pattanayak.
“I feel deprived from the unfortunate decision taken by the grand old Congress party of India,” wrote Prabodh in his letter.
It is worth mentioning that Prabodh aspiring to contest the polls from Talsara Assembly constituency on a Congress ticket. The grand old party had announced him as party’s candidate from the seat but later fielded Devendra Bhitaria.
Prabodh entered politics by joining the Congress in September last year.
