Bhubaneswar, Aug 19: Four persons of a drug peddling syndicate were arrested from Sisupalgarh locality on the outskirts of Odisha capital on Friday night. But before being arrested, the drug peddlers counter attacked the cops and injured a police Sub Inspector.
As per sources, the drug peddlers physically resisted the raid and had a serious scuffle with the policemen. One of them reportedly hit police Sub Inspector Santosh Bal with a hammer. SI Bal with serious head injuries was later rushed to Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar, sources further informed.
In the last few months several cases of drug peddling have come to the fore in Bhubaneswar city and its adjoining localities. Though in most cases cops have sized drugs and made arrests, but a policeman being attacked by drug traffickers during the raid like Friday night, was bit unusual, sources added.
