Malkangiri, April 15: Odisha DGP Arun Kumar Sarangi on Monday visited Malkangiri district where he reviewed election preparedness and LWE activities in the cut-off area and the bordering districts.
In a significant meeting with the SPs Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur and Malkangiri districts Sarangi hold discussions regarding free and fair elections in the districts.
He also took stock of the preventive measures taken by police and enforcement activities in view of the simultaneous election.
Following the meeting, Sarangi briefed the reporters that Maoist activities in Malkangiri have been diminished due to stricter enforcement of the security forces. The Naxalites have changed their address from Malkangiri to the Bastar division for continuous surveillance and combing operation, taken up by joint security forces.
The DGP further informed that he also had discussions with the Border Security Force(BSF) deployed in the Swabhiman Anchal relating to containing the left wing extremists’ operation during the election process.
