Cuttack, June 8: In a display of resilience and dedication, Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo continued with his scheduled official engagements despite suffering an injury during his visit to Cuttack city on Sunday.
The unfortunate incident occurred during Singh Deo's visit to review the preparations for the upcoming Nari Shakti Mela (Women’s Fair), scheduled to be held on June 13 at the lower Bali Jatra ground.
While inspecting the arrangements, Singh Deo's left foot accidentally twisted near the steps of the Cuttack District Collector’s office, causing him severe pain and discomfort. According to sources, the injury occurred as he was descending the stairs to head toward the Bali Jatra grounds. Despite the pain, he initially continued with the inspection before being taken to SCB Medical College and Hospital for a medical evaluation.
Doctors at SCB confirmed that the Deputy CM had suffered a hairline fracture in his left foot. He received immediate treatment and was advised rest. However, Singh Deo returned to the venue shortly afterward to continue the official meeting.
"My body is injured, not my mind. I have come here to serve the people and work for the state government. I am ready for the task, and the work will not stop," the Deputy Chief Minister stated after resuming his duties.
Despite the physical setback, he remained fully engaged in supervising the preparations for the Nari Shakti Mela.
