Kendrapara, Sept 14: A crocodile swam up a canal and turned up at a village in Kendrapara district of Odisha early on Saturday morning.
Tension prevailed in Gajrajpur villages under Rajnagar block after it started roaming around the village. People from nearby areas rushed to the spot after the news spread.
Later, some people dared to take a fight and managed to tie up the reptile with ropes and informed the forest department.
Forest personnel reached the spot and rescued the crocodile. Crocodiles generally do not come on land. As the canal is full of water in the monsoon season, it has come out at night, said forest personnel.
Notably, Crocodiles come under Schedule I of the Wildlife Protection Act and are highly endangered.
