Bhubaneswar, Oct 31: Protesting against the sharp rise in price of onion in the state, the student wing of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee on Tuesday chose to sell onion at Rs 20/kg in the state capital, here.
The members of 'Chhatra Congress' shouted slogans and staged a demonstration in front of the residence of Agriculture Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain, here. They sold onion at Rs 20/kg in front of the minister's residence.
With banners and placards in hand, they demanded immediate government action to check onion price. If the minister concerned cannot take any action against the hoarders and black-marketers, then he should quit his post, they lamented.
However, a few passers-by did utilise the opportunity as they were happy to get onion at Rs 20/kg.
Last year, the Congress also sold tomato in the the state capital, when its price shoot up.
