Bhubaneswar, December 30: Dr. Satyajit Naik, 2008 batch IPS officer, has been promoted to the rank of Inspector General (IG) of Police in Odisha, effective January 1, 2026. This promotion places him in a senior position alongside other distinguished officers, such as Dr. Umashankar Dash.

Before this, Dr. Naik served as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) for the Central Range and Eastern Range. His career trajectory has seen him hold significant positions, including his time as DIG of both the Eastern Range and the Central Range (Cuttack). With his new promotion, Dr. Naik is expected to take on additional responsibilities, further highlighting his contributions and leadership in various senior policing roles within the state.

Along with Dr. Naik, Dr. Umashankar Dash, formerly the Additional Police Commissioner of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, has also been promoted to the rank of Inspector General (IG) of Police in Level-14 of the Pay Matrix. Similarly, Prakash R., also from the 2008 batch and currently on Central Deputation, has been granted a proforma promotion to IG.

In addition, Madkar Sandeep Sampat (RR-2012) has been promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police in Level-13A of the Pay Matrix and posted in-situ. Sudhansu Sekhar Mishra (RR-2012), currently on Central Deputation, has also received a proforma promotion to the same grade.

Officers from the 2013 batch, including Jagmohan Meena, Parmar Smit Parshottamdas, and Mukesh Kumar Bhamoo, have been promoted to the Selection Grade in Level-13 of the Pay Matrix. Additionally, Rahul P. R., Anupama James, and L. Divya V., currently on Central Deputation, have been granted proforma promotions.
