Bhubaneswar, Jan 3: On Wednesday, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Sarat Pattanayak left for New Delhi to discuss strategies for the coming general election in the state. He is schedueld to meet All India Congress Comiittee (AICC) President Mallikarjun Kharge and party leader Rahul Gandhi and discuss various issues of the party.
The meeting will be taken by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former president Rahul Gandhi on January 4 in which newly appointed AICC in-charge for Odisha, Ajoy Kumar will also be present. PCC campaign committee chairman Bijay Patnaik who has already left for Delhi on Tuesday, will also be present there.
The meetings will continue for two days in which all matters including candidate selection, campaign issues, seat sharing and Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Nyaya Yatra will be discussed. The Yatra will start from Imphal on January 14 and culminate in Mumbai on March 20. It will reach Balasore district around the last week of January.
It is said that this time, the Odisha Congress has planned to announce the names of candidates well ahead of the election. The preparation has already been made by the party unit in the state.
The list of potential candidates for each constituency has been sent to Delhi. District Congress and block presidents had prepared a list of about 5 potential candidates from each constituency and submitted it in the state Congress office. The Pradesh Congress Committee is said to have sent the list of potential candidates from across the state to the All India Congress Committee (AICC)
