Bhubaneswar, May 11: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday urged youth to join civil defence organisations as volunteers, encouraging them to serve the nation with a spirit of patriotism.
In a video message, Majhi emphasized the vital role of youth in nation-building, calling them the "hope, strength, and trust of the country." He appealed to them to contribute actively to civil defence efforts.
“The safety of citizens and protection of public property is a shared responsibility,” Majhi said. “Security and service must be our top priorities. I especially urge the youth to volunteer for civil defence organisations.”
He informed that interested candidates can apply through their respective district collectors, who act as the heads of civil defence at the district level. Volunteers will receive proper training and, when necessary, will be mobilised for public service.
Currently, civil defence units are operational in 12 locations across Odisha. The chief minister has instructed officials to establish additional units wherever needed.
Majhi expressed confidence that many young people will step forward to serve the country through these organisations, inspired by a sense of duty and nationalism.
In a separate development, the chief minister congratulated Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on the inauguration of the BrahMos missile manufacturing unit in Lucknow.
“This milestone will significantly enhance India’s defence capabilities and strengthen our journey towards self-reliance in defence production,” Majhi wrote on X. “Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, India continues to advance towards #AtmanirbharBharat in defence and beyond.”
