Bhubaneswar, March 2: Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik on Saturday inaugurated teaching hospitals across five government medical colleges, enhancing the state's healthcare infrastructure. Additionally, he laid the foundation stone for the transformation of four medical colleges, aimed at providing world-class facilities.
The teaching hospitals inaugurated by the Chief Minister include the 650-bed Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir, the 650-bed Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital in Baripada, the 500-bed Government Medical College and Hospital in Sundargarh, the 500-bed Dharni Dhar Medical College and Hospital in Keonjhar, and the Fakir Mohan Medical College and Hospital with 650 beds in Balasore.
Moreover, foundation stones were laid to bolster infrastructure at the Acharya Harihar Postgraduate Cancer Research Institute in Cuttack, MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH), and Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla.
Addressing the event, the Chief Minister emphasized that the launch of these facilities represents a significant milestone in Odisha's healthcare sector, with a total of 2,950 beds added across five medical college hospitals in a single day. He highlighted that the state government has allocated more than Rs 2,000 crore for this endeavor.
The initiative is poised to benefit communities spanning from Balangir to Baripada, Sundargarh to Keonjhar, and Balasore. Naveen Patnaik underscored the increasing confidence of the people in the state's healthcare system, reiterating the government's commitment to delivering quality treatment and services to the populace.
