Bhubaneswar, Oct 9: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is set to kick off the highly anticipated LAccMI bus service during his visit to Malkangiri district on October 12.
The LAccMI bus service will be officially launched in Malkangiri, marking the beginning of a phased deployment of more than 1,000 buses to facilitate transportation across the state.
To support this initiative, the state government has earmarked Rs 3,178 crores for the LAccMI Yojana. In a state cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister on September 15, the government approved the expenditure of this substantial amount for the LAccMI Yojana, covering the period from 2023-24 to 2025-26. The funds have been secured, and additional financing will be considered based on the scheme's performance in the coming years.
In the initial phase, 36 buses have been dispatched to Malkangiri, with plans to expand the fleet to over 1,000 buses. The LAccMI service will connect district headquarters, panchayats and blocks, enhancing communication and accessibility.
The Location Accessible Multimodal Initiative (LAccMI) scheme, introduced by the state government in the current fiscal year, aims to establish bus services connecting the capital and every panchayat in the state, ensuring improved transportation options for the public.
