Odisha CM to felicitate saviors of Bahanaga train accident

Bhubaneswar, Aug 11: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will felicitate people who were involved in the rescue operations in the tragic Bahanaga train accident that occurred on June 2.

The state-level felicitation ceremony is scheduled to be held at Lok Seva Bhawan on Sunday.

According to the report, the Balasore administration has sent a list of local people, different government and private agencies officials, Odisha police, fire service, Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Railway Protection Force (RPF), doctors, nurses and other healthcare staff, blood donors involved in the rescue operation.

Ranajit Giri, Biprada Bag, Asha Behera and Ashok Bera, all residents of the Bahanaga Bazar station area, were among the first to rescue the injured, said sources. 

For the effort of the locals, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had said, “I am proud of the people of my state. The efforts of locals have proved the humanity and compassion of the people of Odisha.”
