Bhubaneswar, Oct 8: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday sanctioned an additional ₹100.83 crore for ongoing infrastructure and heritage development projects in Puri.
Majhi approved the additional funding while reviewing the progress of the Jagannath Ballav Pilgrim Centre, Market Complex, Srisetu and Musa River development projects being undertaken in Puri under the ABADHA (Augmentation of Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage and Architecture) scheme.
The Chief Minister said there should be no shortage of funds for infrastructure development in Puri.
The projects were initially approved at an estimated cost of ₹557.19 crore. However, the requirement for additional construction works and other project-related needs led to a revision of the estimate. With the latest allocation of ₹100.83 crore, the total approved project cost has risen to ₹658.03 crore.
As part of the additional works, a 2,000-seater multipurpose hall will be constructed on the fifth floor of the Jagannath Ballav Pilgrim Centre, officials said.
Majhi reiterated that the state government would ensure adequate funding for the development of Puri, the abode of Lord Jagannath, and that financial constraints would not hinder infrastructure and heritage-related works in the city.
