Bhubaneswar, March 2: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday raised the monthly remuneration for temporary art and sports teachers in Upper Primary Schools.
According to the CM's directive, the salary for these teachers has been raised from Rs 7,000 to Rs 10,000 per month. Additionally, they will now receive payment for 12 months instead of the previous 10 months.
Furthermore, the government has affirmed that female art and sports teachers are eligible for maternity leave, aligning them with other government employees.
This decision stands to benefit a substantial number of individuals, with approximately 4,605 arts teachers set to gain from this initiative across the state.
It's noteworthy that the concerns of art and sports teachers were brought to the attention of 5T Chairman and Nabin Odisha VK Pandian, highlighting the significance of addressing their issues.
The state government also announced to increase the remuneration of PHIEVs (Inclusive Education Volunteer for physically handicapped children) and multilingual education teachers to Rs 10,000.
The PHIEVs and multilingual education teachers will get a hike in remuneration from Rs 5,379 to Rs 10,000 per month.
The PHIEVs are engaged at different Gram Panchayats since 2014 to impart special education and service to physically disabled children studying at various schools in the state. With this move, 1,117 PHIEVs will be benefitted in the state.
The Chief Minister also directed to regularise the multilingual education teachers working in schools for tribal and SC students under ST & SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare Department on basis of their eligibility.
