Bhubaneswar, Mar 13: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday announced to create 22 new Notified Area Councils (NACs) in 13 districts of Odisha.
Patnaik also upgraded the Bhanjnagar NAC in Ganjam district to a municipality.
As per the announcement, Manmunda, Old Cuttack and Banshuni in Boudh district; Loisingha and Sindhekela in Bolangir district; Sohela in Bargarh district; Baliapal and Kheira in Balasore district; Dhamra in Bhadrak district; Rasod in Dhenkanal district, Narla in Kujang, Kalahandi in Jagatsinghpur and Madanpur, Rampur, Bolgad, Nayagarh, Sharankul, Puri, Kakatpur, Rengali and Bamanda, Sambalpur, and Subalya, Ulunda, and Rampur in Subarnapur district have been accorded the NAC tag.
Patnaik expressed hope that the newly formed NACs will work for the region’s overall development.
Earlier last month, Patnaik had announced creation of 35 NACs in 20 districts and upgradation of five NACs into municipalities in four districts of the state.
