Odisha CM approves expansion of OISF with two new battalions & 2,080 posts

Bhubaneswar, July 23: Chief Minister Mohan Chandra Majhi on Wednesday approved a proposal to expand the Odisha Industrial Security Force (OISF) with the formation of two additional battalions in the state.

According to reports, a total of 2,080 positions have been allocated for the new battalions, with 1,944 being regular positions and 136 positions created on an outsourcing basis.

The newly approved positions for both battalions include two Commandants, six Deputy Commandants, 16 Assistant Commandants, 24 Armed Inspectors, 54 Armed Sub-Inspectors, 126 Armed Assistant Sub-Inspectors, 256 Havildars, 1,350 Constables, 14 Ministerial staff including clerks and stenographers, 30 Armourer staff, and 66 Communication staff.

The approval for the 3rd and 4th OISF battalions comes just a few months after CM Majhi approved the formation of the 2nd battalion with 1,040 positions in April. 

Previously, only one OISF battalion was operational in the state, with 1,807 positions. 

With the addition of the third and fourth battalions, the total number of positions in the Odisha Industrial Security Force will increase to 4,927.
