Bhubaneswar, Sept. 15: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Monday laid the foundation stone for the Rs 200 crore SUM Lifesciences project — a major pharmaceutical manufacturing and research facility — at the Gothapatna Industrial Estate on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.
The project is being developed by SUM Lifesciences Private Limited, a subsidiary of Summa Real Media Private Ltd.
Once operational, the facility is expected to generate direct employment for 1,280 people, contributing significantly to the state’s growing pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector.
The foundation was laid as part of a larger initiative in which CM Majhi virtually inaugurated 27 industrial projects worth a combined capital investment of over Rs 25,000 crore.
The projects, spread across 12 districts of the state, are expected to create more than 52,000 employment opportunities for the state's youth.
The state-level event was held at the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) campus in Bhubaneswar.
The event was attended by key government officials, including Industries Minister Sampad Charan Swain, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Principal Secretary (Industries) Hemant Sharma, and other senior officers.
