Bhubaneswar, December 16: As thousands of devotees are expected to visit Puri for Lord Jagannath's darshan during the English New Year 2026, Odisha Police have ramped up security and traffic plans. A high-level meeting chaired by DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania was held at the Bhubaneswar DGP camp office to discuss arrangements for crowd management, temple security, and traffic control.

The focus was on ensuring smooth darshan within the Shree Jagannath Temple, effective crowd control, and traffic management to prevent congestion. The DGP emphasized the need for efficient security, including patrolling at key locations, installation of CCTV cameras, and strict monitoring of hotels and lodges. Officers were instructed to maintain coordination, remain alert for emergencies, and ensure a safe environment for the pilgrims.

Director (Intelligence) R. P. Koche, Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operation) Sanjeeb Panda, ADGP (Railway & Coastal Security) Arun Bothra, ADGP (Modernisation) Saumendra Kumar Priyadarshi, ADGP (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar, Bhubaneswar–Cuttack Police Commissioner S. Devadatta Singh, ADGP (Armed) Rajesh Kumar, and Dr. Satyajit Naik, DIG (Central Range), Cuttack were present in the meeting and deliberated over the issue.

DIG (Eastern Range) Pinak Mishra, Puri SP Prateek Singh, Cuttack (Rural) SP Vineet Agrawal, and other senior officers also participated in the meeting through virtual mode.
