Bhubaneswar, March 3: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday unveiled a significant uplift in pension benefits for construction workers in Odisha.
As per an official statement from the Chief Minister’s office (CMO), the pension for individuals enlisted with the Odisha Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board will see a notable increase.
Effective immediately, all construction workers registered with the board aged 60 and above will witness a substantial rise in their monthly pension. The monthly pension for this group will now stand at Rs 1,000, marking a significant increase from the previous Rs 500. Additionally, laborers aged 80 and above will also benefit from this enhancement, receiving a monthly pension of Rs 1,000, previously set at Rs 700.
This adjustment in pension rates demonstrates the state government's commitment to improving the welfare of construction workers in Odisha. The revised pension rates will come into effect from February 2024, ensuring timely support for eligible beneficiaries.
