Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi participated in the Kashi-Tamil Sangam 3.0 event held in Varanasi today.

Majhi described the Kashi-Tamil Sangam as a remarkable symbol of India’s cultural heritage and unity.

The Chief Minister underscored that although India's various regions differ in languages, customs, and traditions, the spirit of mutual love, harmony, and shared spirituality unites all Indians. He explained that this cultural cohesion is what distinguishes India from other nations, saying, “We are all integral parts of India’s grand cultural heritage, united by a common consciousness.”

The Kashi-Tamil Sangam was initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022 to promote and strengthen India’s cultural unity. This year, the event is being held at Namo Ghat in Varanasi, starting from 15th February.

At today’s event, Majhi was joined by Union Minister of State for Education Sukanta Majumdar and Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Anil Rajbhar.

The Chief Minister expressed pride in attending the program, emphasizing the long-standing spiritual bond between Kashi and Tamil Nadu. “Kashi is not merely a city; it stands as a beacon of India’s eternal spiritual traditions. Similarly, Tamil Nadu, with its classical language, literature, grand temples, and philosophical wisdom, has enriched our cultural fabric. The Kashi-Tamil Sangam symbolizes our unity in diversity,” he said.

Majhi further highlighted Odisha’s role in shaping India’s cultural identity, noting that people from across the country visit the Shree Jagannath Temple, and the grand Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath attracts participants of all faiths and cultures. He stated that the Shree Jagannath tradition plays a pivotal role in spreading India’s spiritual legacy.

Additionally, the Chief Minister drew attention to the shared cultural traditions of Odisha and Tamil Nadu, pointing out that both Odisha’s Odissi dance and Tamil Nadu’s Bharatanatyam transcend regional and linguistic differences, telling tales of devotion through classical dance forms.
