Odisha CM approves relocation of hundis to improve dhadi darshan at Jagannath Temple

Puri, Sept 18: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved the relocation of Hundis (donation boxes) at the Jagannath Temple in Puri, which were previously obstructing the Dhadi Darshan (queue-based darshan) system. The decision, confirmed by Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan today, is expected to enhance the temple's darshan experience for devotees.

With the CM's approval, discussions are underway to finalize the new location for the Hundis. Once relocated, the Dhadi Darshan system for Lord Jagannath and his siblings will be initiated on a trial basis. A review will follow to assess the impact and make a final decision on whether to continue the system, ensuring a smoother and more accessible experience for devotees.

In another significant announcement, Minister Harichandan revealed that the temple administration has planned to transfer the ‘Sindhuka,’ which contains valuable ornaments, to the Ratna Bhandar on September 23. The decision was made by the Ratna Bhandar Sub-Committee, which convened earlier today.
