Bhubaneswar, Oct 7: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today sanctioned an additional grant of Rs 175.5 crore for the Special Development Council. It will be spent on preserving the language, art, culture and heritage of the tribal.
This additional grant will be available in addition to the current year's normal grant. 5T Secretary V.K. Pandian informed about the development. This will give the Special Development Council a total grant of Rs 351 crore this year. The announcement was made through a virtual meeting in which the chairman and all the members of the nine district councils were present.
It is worth noting that the state government has formed special development councils for 9 districts namely Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Sundargarh and Nabarangpur.
