Bhubaneswar, May 13: Rama Chandra Kadam, Leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) in Odisha, has requested Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to convene a special session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly to discuss the recent terror attack in Pahalgam and related national security developments.
In a letter addressed to CM Majhi, Kadam emphasized the urgency of deliberating on three key issues: the Pahalgam terror attack, the ongoing Operation Sindoor, and the recently announced ceasefire between India and Pakistan, which was first made public by U.S. President Donald Trump.
“I once again urge the immediate convening of a special session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly,” Kadam wrote.
“In light of these critical developments, it is imperative for the people's representatives to come together and reaffirm our collective commitment to national security and resilience.”
Kadam stressed that the Assembly must provide a platform for meaningful dialogue and solidarity, especially in the wake of the loss of lives in Pahalgam. He also urged the Chief Minister to act “promptly and decisively” in response to what he described as a shared national concern.
This appeal follows similar demands made by Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, who on Sunday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging the convening of a special session of Parliament to address the same issues.
Kadam has previously submitted formal requests to Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Majhi, and Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy, calling for a special Assembly session to discuss the terror attack and express solidarity with the victims’ families.
