Bhubaneswar, Feb 20: In a tragic incident, a Class 10 student of a residential school in Odisha’s Bolangir district allegedly committed suicide reportedly due to fear of failing in the Matric exam. The deceased has been identified as Binayak Pradhan.
As per reports, Binayak, a student of Biswatma Vidya Mandir in Bolangir, was supposed to appear for the annual Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Odisha Matric Examinations 2024 which will commence today.
However, the school authorities found him hanging in the hostel bathroom late last night. He was then rushed to a nearby hospital where the attending doctors declared him brought dead.
Though the exact reason behind the death of the student is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that he might have ended his life due to exam fear.
On the other hand, the deceased’s family members blamed the school authorities behind Binayak’s death and demanded an investigation into the matter.
Sadar police have seized the body and sent it for post-mortem. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
