Bhubaneswar, June 22: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended greetings to the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Snana Purnima (ceremonial bath of the holy trinity) today.
“In a celebration marking the convergence of tradition, spirituality, culture, and devotion, the auspicious bathing festival of Lord Jagannath, revered as the epitome of worship among Odias, brings joy and jubilation to all lives. This is a heartfelt wish for prosperity and happiness,” CM Majhi tweeted in Odia.
Noteworthy, Deva Snana Purnima is observed on the full moon day ('Purnima') of the 'Jyeshtha' month in the traditional Hindu calendar.
It marks the first occasion in the year when the holy trinity—Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra, Sudarshan, and Madanmohan—are ceremonially brought out from the Jagannath Temple in a procession to the Snana Bedi, the bathing platform. Here, the deities are bathed and adorned in a ceremonial ritual, offering devotees an opportunity for darshan (audience) with the divine.
