Bhubaneswar, May 14: In a significant policy move, the Odisha Cabinet has cleared the proposal to integrate the state-run ‘MAMATA’ scheme with the Centre’s ‘Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana’ (PMMVY) under a new co-branded initiative titled ‘MAMATA-PMMVY’, effective from April 1, 2025.
Under the merged scheme, mothers will receive a cash incentive of Rs 12,000 for the birth of a girl child and Rs 10,000 for a boy child. Women belonging to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) will be eligible for the same amount for every live birth, irrespective of birth order.
Additionally, the cabinet has approved a hike in incentives for frontline workers: Anganwadi Workers will now receive Rs 250 and Anganwadi Helpers will get Rs 150 per beneficiary assisted under the scheme.
The eligibility criteria of PMMVY will be followed for beneficiaries of the new MAMATA-PMMVY programme. The state government has estimated a financial outlay of Rs 2,670 crore over the next five years to implement the co-branded scheme.
