Bhadrak, Dec 8: A Well-known Jatra actor Guru Prusti tragically passed away in a road accident near Chingudipur on National Highway 16 in Bhadrak district on Sunday evening. His untimely death has left the Jatra community in shock and mourning.

Guru, who hailed from Cuttack, first made a name for himself in the world of Jatra theatre with the play ‘Bada Danda Ra Bhikari’, written by Ashutosh Mohapatra. His portrayal in the play, particularly his iconic dialogue ‘Paida kie kahila…’, became a favorite among fans and cemented his status as a household name in Odisha’s Jatra circuit.

While Guru had opportunities in cinema and television, he chose to stay true to his roots in Jatra theatre. He began his journey in 2019 and quickly became known for his impeccable comic timing and vibrant performances. His lively and engaging personality, both on and off-stage, endeared him to audiences across the region.

Guru’s passing is a significant loss to the Jatra fraternity, where he was loved not only for his acting but also for his infectious energy and dedication to the craft. Fans and fellow performers alike are mourning the loss of a talented and beloved figure who brought joy and laughter to many.
