Odisha braces for heavy rainfall as IMD issues warnings

Bhubaneswar, Aug 24: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall for Odisha today, prompting an orange warning for seven districts and a yellow alert for 19 others.
According to the IMD's regional center in Bhubaneswar, orange warnings sounded for Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Keonjhar and are expected to experience intense rainfall ranging from 7 to 20 cm, along with thunderstorms and lightning.
A yellow warning for heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) and thunderstorms with lightning has been issued for Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Bargarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, and Mayurbhanj.
Looking ahead to tomorrow, districts including Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, and Keonjhar will be under a yellow warning for similar conditions.
