Bhubaneswar, July 25: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday presented BJP government's first state budget of Rs 2.65 lakh crore in the Odisha Assembly for the financial year 2024-25.
The proposed allocation for agriculture has been increased to Rs 33,919 crore as compared to Rs 24,829 crore last year.
Majhi, who also holds the finance portfolio, announced Samrudha Krushak Yojana for farmers with a proposed outlay of Rs 5000 crore. Under the scheme, the government will procure paddy from the farmers at Rs 3100 per quintal.
The Chief Minister proposed new scheme 'CM Kisan' for farmers with an outlay of Rs 1935 crore. The scheme will replace the previous BJD government’s KALIA Yojana.
An amount of Rs 10,000 crore has been proposed in the budget for implementation of SUBHADRA Yojana for empowerment of women.
Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) will be known as Gopabandhu Jana Arogya Yojana (GJAY) which will be implemented in convergence with centre’s Ayushman Bharat Yojana. While Rs 5450 crore has been allocated for GJAY, Rs 500 crore has been provisioned for implementation of Ayushman Bharat scheme in the state.
The government has allocated Rs 649 crore for Shree Anna Abhiyan renaming Aahaar scheme.
With objective to provide comprehensive universal free of cost eye care to all, a new scheme, "Surendra Sai Divya Drushti Yojana" has been launched.
Rs 500 crore has been proposed as corpus fund for the Jagannath temple in Puri, Rs 1000 crore has been proposed for Bhubaneswar metro rail project.
To check dropout, Odisha government will implement new scheme “Madho Singh Haath Kharcha” wherein every ST students having passed out 8th/10th grade class and taking admission in 9th/ 11th grade will be provided with Rs 5000 annually as an incentive amount.
Flagship investment summit “Make in Odisha” conclave will be renamed as 'Utkarsha Utkal'.
“We are planning to bring in domestic investment of over Rs.2.5 lakh crore and FDI of over 2 billion USD to the state by 2029 through ‘Utkarsha Utkal’ summits,” said Majhi.
Majhi also announced to enhance social security pension money of senior citizens of over 80 years and persons with 80% disabilities. The government has proposed Rs 4,487 crore under Madhubabu Pension Yojana.
Rs 200 crore has been provisioned to revive the ‘Odia Asmita’ and promote the art, literature, culture and heritage of Odisha.
Odisha government proposed a new scheme "FDI Park in State Capital Region" with a budgetary provision of Rs 20 crore to develop the state into a manufacturing hub, with special focus on automobile, EV, Semiconductor, and IT/ITES industries.
“We are planning to build a Film City in the state. In this regard, an amount of Rs.20 crore has been proposed under the scheme Redevelopment of Kalinga Studio Ltd,” Majhi said.
