Bhubaneswar, September 10: A statue of legendary former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik at Siali Beach under Ersama police station limits in Jagatsinghpur district was allegedly vandalised by unidentified miscreants late Wednesday night.
The damaged statue was noticed by locals and tourists on Thursday morning, triggering anger and resentment in the area. Residents strongly condemned the incident at the prominent tourist destination and demanded the immediate identification and arrest of those responsible.
An FIR has been lodged at Ersama police station, and police have launched an investigation into the incident. No arrests have been made so far.
Authorities are also likely to consider strengthening security arrangements and increasing night patrolling in the area to prevent such incidents in the future.
