Bhubaneswar, Sep 27: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths today apprehended an assistant engineer in Koraput district while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a person.
Bhanumati Tudu, asstant engineer of Kundura Block was apprehended while demanding and accepting a bribe at the Kundura Block office from a complainant (beneficiary) for facilitating the release of bill towards construction of a “cattle shed”.
The entire tainted bribe money has been recovered and seized from the possession of the accused, said the Vigilance.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of Tudu from disproportionate assets (DA) angle.
In this connection, a case has been registered.
An investigation is in progress against accused Tudu, it said.
