Bhubaneswar, Apr 24: A day after resigning from the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Hindol MLA Simarani Nayak today joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the Odisha Assembly polls.
Nayak joined the saffron party in the presence of state BJP chief Manmohan Samal and several other senior party leaders.
Along with the legislator, Hindol NAC chairman Gobinda Chandra Behera and block chairman Barun Kumar Sara also joined the saffron camp.
Earlier yesterday, Nayak had resigned from the BJD.
Though Nayak cited personal problem as the reason behind her resignation, it is being speculated that she left the conch party after the ruling party denied her ticket to fight ensuing Odisha Assembly polls from Hindol seat.
It is worth mentioning that the BJD has fielded Mahesh Sahu from Hindol Assembly segment.
