Keonjhar, Feb 20: A teacher appointed at Golabandha UP School in Ghatagan block of Keonjhar district has been dismissed from service after it was found that he had secured the job using a fake B.Ed certificate.

The accused teacher has been identified as Prashant Kumar Sethi. According to reports, allegations were raised regarding the authenticity of his B.Ed certificate. During a verification drive conducted by the Education Department, the certificate was found to be forged. Following the confirmation, the department terminated him from service on the 6th of this month.

Prashant had joined Golabandha UP School under Uparadiha Panchayat in 2017 as a primary teacher. Though he had appeared for the B.Ed examination, he had failed. However, he allegedly submitted a fake B.Ed pass certificate to obtain the teaching position and had been drawing a monthly salary since his appointment.

A case has been registered against him at Ghatgaon Police Station. Sources said the matter was initially kept confidential. After the incident came to light, the accused teacher has reportedly gone absconding.
