Odisha Accident: 2 killed, 5 injured in Jajpur

At least two members of a family died while five others were injured after the auto-rickshaw they were traveling in was hit by a truck near Sharma Hotel under Panikoili block here in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Jajpur, Nov 21: At least two members of a family died while five others were injured after the auto-rickshaw they were traveling in was hit by a truck near Sharma Hotel under Panikoili block here in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The deceased have been identified as a 12-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy. Sources said, the incident occurred when the family was going to Puri in an auto-rickshaw from Bhadrak to have darshan of Lord Jagannath. The injured have been rushed immediately to Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for treatment.

Being informed, Panikoili Police reached the spot following the mishap, recovered the bodies and sent them for post-mortem.

Further investigation is underway.
