Malkangiri, Oct 29: Orkel police in Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Wednesday seized around 770 kilograms of ganja from a container truck near Surlukonda Dam and arrested three persons in this connection.

The three accused have been identified as residents of Uttar Pradesh and detained for questioning.

As per reports, Orkel police were conducting a routine patrolling when they intercepted a container truck over suspicion of smuggling ganja. Upon thorough inspection, the cops recovered 17 bags of ganja weighing over 770 kg concealed inside the truck and seized them. Thereafter, the container truck was seized along with three mobile phones from the possession of the accused.

Police said that the contraband was being smuggled from Kambeda village to Uttar Pradesh.

A case has been registered at Orkel Police Station and the accused have been forwarded to court. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
