Bhubaneswar, May 11: As many as 3636 electors have exercised their voting rights at home ahead of the first phase of election in Odisha scheduled on May 13.
The Chief Electoral Officer Nikunja Bihari Dhal informed it on Saturday.
While briefing reporters in a press conference summing up the election preparedness, Dhal said Odisha is going to vote on May 13. In the first phase of election, people of Koraput, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur and Berhampur are first going to poll on Monday wherein as many as 62 lakh 87 thousand voters under 28 Assembly segments and 4 Lok Sabha segments will vote for 243 candidates, in fray.
Before the process of polling in the state, home voting for the elderly persons and divyangs was conducted in different villages based on the requisitions of the concerned Returning officer.
Earlier on May 4 the Koraput district admin had began Home Voting on Saturday as the first phase of Odisha election is going to kick start in Koraput on May 13.
The home voting was rolled out in various villages under the Jeypore and Kotapad Assembly Constituency today. As many as 45 voters including nonagenarians and disables registered their franchise conveniently at their homes.
According to sources, at least 7 mobile polling teams were deployed to conduct the home polling at the doorsteps of the elderly voters with more than 85 years of age and physically challenged ones.
