Kandhamal, Jan 10: The Odisha Police on Friday apprehended five individuals in connection with a cyber fraud case in Kandhamal district, officials confirmed.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ramendra Prasad explained that the gang involved in the fraud had been opening bank accounts under the names of other individuals. These accounts were then transferred to others and used for cybercrimes. Among those arrested was a bank employee suspected of facilitating the illegal activity.

"This gang was responsible for opening bank accounts under various individuals' names, which were then handed over to others to carry out cybercrimes. We have arrested those involved in opening these accounts, including a bank employee," ASP Ramendra Prasad told ANI.
