Berhampur, Dec 19: The investigation into the Police SI examination scam has taken a significant turn, with the CBI taking three accused on a four-day remand from today. The main accused, Shankar Prusti, along with his associates Suresh and Sagar, will be interrogated by the CBI after being brought from Jharsuguda Jail. A special CBI court has granted permission for their remand.

Earlier, on September 29, Berhampur Police had received intelligence that several Police SI aspirants were being taken to Visakhapatnam in three buses. Acting on the information, three police teams intercepted the buses at Srikakulam and brought the aspirants to Berhampur. The police subsequently produced three middlemen and 114 candidates before the court. While the 114 candidates have been granted bail, Shankar Prusti and 12 middlemen remain in Bhubaneswar’s Jharpada Jail.
