Bolangir, Feb 20: Nagar Congress Committee launched a 12-hour Kantabanji Bandh in Bolangir district after senior party leader and Kantabanji MLA Santosh Singh Saluja received a death threat yesterday.
Owing to the dawn-to-dusk bandh, shops, and other commercial establishments remained closed. However, vehicular traffic continued as usual.
Worth mentioning, panic gripped locals after a banner giving a death threat to the MLA surfaced yesterday. A white poster, which had the picture of an unidentified youth, claimed to kill the senior Congress leader in the next 15 days. It was put up outside a shop near Kantabanji girls’ high school.
Locals expressed their resentment at the distasteful act.
Meanwhile, police have seized the banner and launched a detailed probe.
