Aska, Aug 10: A dawn to-dusk bandh in Aska in Odisha’s Ganjam district demanding district status for Rushikulya affected normal life in the region on Thursday.
As per reports, the Aska bar association and the standing committee called a 12-hour bandh, demanding district status for Rushikulya.
The government and private offices, educational institutions, banks and financial institutions, shops, and markets remained closed in Aska.
In many places, protestors were seen picketing on the main roads and important traffic crossings with posters, banners, and placards in the town.
While hundreds of vehicles were halted on both sides of the state highway passing through the town, services of buses, taxis, and auto-rickshaws were also affected in the area.
