Puri, Dec 30: A chaotic scene unfolded at Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri on Monday morning when a stampede-like situation occurred near the temple’s entrance as devotees crowded to have darshan of the holy trinity. The incident left 10 devotees unwell.
All of them were rescued and taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
As per reports, a large number of devotees gathered in a densely packed space near the entrance gate of the temple. This led to pushing and shoving among the crowd and resulted in several devotees falling ill due to the commotion.
Notably, the temple has been witnessing an overwhelming number of devotees. The surge in devotees’ footfalls, especially on auspicious days, has been creating immense pressure on crowd management systems.
