New Delhi, February 26: All the regional language subjects including Odia will continue in Class X & XII curriculum as they are offered at present, said a CBSE notification released on Wednesday.
In order to deal with the confusion of students, parents and other stakeholders relating the inclusion or exclusion of language subjects taught earlier, in view of implementing the NEP 2020, the CBSE has clearly mentioned that apart from the foreign languages enlisted in the curriculum, regional languages including Punjabi, Russian, Nepali, and others, will remain unchanged for the upcoming academic session.
The CBSE has thus confirmed that all existing languages will continue to be available in the Class X and Class XII curriculums despite two board exams are prescribed by the NPE- 2020 for the two prime classes.
The clarification comes after the CBSE released a draft date sheet that listed languages, but did not explicitly confirm their inclusion.
The CBSE authorities in a clarification, with respect to the earlier one, stated that the draft list was only indicative but not final.
The CBSE mentioned that the board would continue to offer all languages, including Punjabi, Russian, Nepali, Limboo, Lepcha, Sindhi, Malayalam, Odia, Assamese, Kannada, Kokborok, Telugu, Arabic, and Persian, in addition to the languages mentioned under “Regional and Foreign languages group”.
